We are a independent dealer who advertised with them for a very short time, only to have our leads sent to higher paying/larger dealers
We are a independent dealer who advertised with them for a very short time, only to have our leads sent to higher paying/larger dealers. Called our representative to address the situation and was aggressively talked to and was read a obviously scripted response. Then when we asked to cancel our contract, we were told "too bad you signed a 6 month contract that can not be cancelled" When we asked him to calm down he said " I am *** calm!" I would not recommend doing business with this company. Ever.

Buyer beware. After placing my ad I noticed that cargurus had made numerous mistakes that I requested be corrected. I requested that my car main description be changed to show I was offering a Certified 2018 Infiniti Q50 Sport model. The model was eventually changed to reflect it was a Sport model but nothing was ever done to reflect it as being a CPO vehicle. When I started researching deeper I began to notice that dealers with similar vehicles for sale were receiving much better IMV values from cargurus than private sellers were. I ran *** Blue Book comparisons and presented them to cargurus and they basically said it cost dealers more to sell a vehicle than private parties so they assigned them a higher rating. When I quit laughing I tried to explain to them a book value is a book value any way you look at it. They refused to change their rating on my car. I told them to cancel my ad immediately because I could not knowingly support a company who so grossly misrepresents what a good deal is by always slanting their ratings towards a dealer and against the public.

I thought I had made a good choice when going with CarGurus in an attempt to sell my *** Civic but I was sorely mistaken. I decided to sell my car directly to CarGurus as I have never done a private sale and the price they offered was very tempting. My issues with them started almost as soon as I had the first pickup attempt scheduled. I was told I would be sent a *** package with some necessary documents that I would give to the transport driver when they arrived. Day of the scheduled appointment comes and I had yet to receive said package, so I was forced to reschedule. I called CarGurus again and they sent me another package overnight, so I am not sure what the issue was the first go around. Turns out all that was in it was a checklist for my driver to fill out and instructions on how to sign a title. Very frustrating that that was what caused my initial delay. Nevertheless, I stuck with my second scheduled attempt for 12/28. I waited until over 2 hours past the pickup window ended with no word from the transport team (they were to call when they were 30 minutes away). I called customer support and after *** minutes on hold and talking to several different reps, I was told that a team was never even assigned to come get my car. They blamed it on short staffing, but regardless of the reason I should have been contacted. I never would have known had I not called myself. I was foolish enough to attempt a third pickup that was scheduled for today 1/4/2022. Same as the second one, pickup window came and went and *** minutes past that I still had no word. I called customer service and after being on the phone for 45 minutes was told that the wait for them to put me through to the transport team was so long they were going to have them call me personally. Going along with the rest of my experience, they never called me. I decided to give them about 3 hours and called customer service AGAIN around 4:30 pm. The rep was very polite and tried to keep me informed of the wait times to get through to the transport teams, but while on hold my call simply disconnected. There was no attempt to reach out to me, either after that or at any point in this process. Between that and wasting my PTO from work and my limited days away from work waiting for them to never come or contact me, I am beyond frustrated and done with dealing with CarGurus. I hope others don't make my mistake. I will be going with one of their competitors moving forwward.

If I could score a 0 I definitely would! I have NEVER in my life dealt with such trash! I sold my 2015 *** sienna to them. After weeks of changing pick up dates to dropped phone calls to now getting the run around of me and my finance company getting paid! I suggest no one EVER deals with these people!

Zero communication, zero support
Zero communication, zero support. It has been 2 months since I completed the sale of my personal vehicle and neither I nor the buyer have been able to get support despite jumping through all their hoops. Customer service number is a long hold and promises to call back that never happen. Requests for refunds or cancellations are also refused. We began the sale on Apr 2. It is now June 23 and we have no idea where the title is or who to address our concerns to. If this isn't illegal then it's at least irresponsible.

DO NOT LIST YOUR CAR WITH CARGURUS! They froze my a/c because the number of responses my ad elicited exceeded their limit and in freezing my a/c, they cost me two bonafide buyers. By freezing my account, I was unable to respond to buyers' offers and Cargurus offered me no other option but to monitor my a/c as to when the freeze would be lifted; however, they could not tell me when that would take place. It's already at least a week and I'm unable to accept an offer. WHAT A SCAM! I gave them one star because zero stars was not an option.

I must confirm what other reviewers have here. Some one week after you pay to have your listing, CarGurus freezes your account, removes your listing asking you to take a photo of your car with a written CODE on the wind shield. This poses a dramatic problem, removing the listing, when buyers are interested in the car, conveying there is something wrong with the car.The business practices of GarGurus are amateur. You CarGurus should be doing any sort of certification out the gate, prior to getting paid for a listing, not after getting paid.I cannot recommend CarGurus to any sellers out there looking to sell their vehicles because of bizarre practice by CarGurus some one week later, pulling your listing, just like many others have complained here, submit some put a piece of paper on the wind shield so we can unlock your listing. CarGurus is behaving in a manner unfitting to a professional firm. Not professional.

I listed my car on Cargurus. A week later, I received a message from Cargurus Admin requesting me to validate my listing by submitting a photo with a code that was sent to me. I did it as instructed right away. Locked my account blocking me from access to messages. It stated that my listing is in processing, it may take two business days. I had a buyer at that time and lost the sale. Why didn't cargurus do it when I listed my car? In stead, it let me communicated with multiple potential buyers and then blocked me from the message in the name of "validation".

Dealership- Run from this dealership! The people at this dealership are not truthful. They are all very dishonest. They had a car listed on the cargurus.com website that I was interested in purchasing. I called and the car was available. I even texted and we even agreed on a price! I drove up during my lunch break to test drive the car...but interestingly, the car was not available for a test drive...per the salesman because it was in the shop. They said it would be ready tomorrow and gave this same excuse for the next couple of days until I found out the horrible truth that they had increased the price to this exact same car on the same website $4000 more and funny enough that this car IS AVAILABLE for a test drive and is available for purchase to a friend of mine that called! Such Awful business! This dealership will run you in a big circle and when confronted with this, all they could do was ask the name of the salesperson that you had spoken to? Really?

Then told her that you and your dad have to clear all the lights on the dash, frigging thing looks like a Christmas tree. But after we are done fixing his c*** car, he will pay for the emissions test. Beyond passed. Hope this helps anyone.

Car Guru provides lists of cars available for sale , but Do Not Guatantee that USED CAR DEALERS are truthful or honest about the cars they sell. I found and test drove a $5,000 used Jetta. Was told it was a great car with no problems so I put a small deposit to hold it and took it for a PREPURCHASE INSPECTION ($150)by an independent foreign car mechanic. The result was its not worth$500 let alone $5000! It was completely rusted underneath and had been sitting in flood from another state! The used car dealer KNEW that and wasnt surprised when I returned it and withdrew from the sale. NO GUARANTEES that Car Guru refers decent or even honest car dealers ir cars! BEWARE!

I placed an add with CarGurus trying to sell 2 cars. It that period I have called and left so many messages hoping to get a call back and sent emails to fix the online presence of the ads. To no avail, I have received one email which wanted clarification in which I sent multiple screen shots and have still not heard anything back, if you are looking for good customer service , look elsewhere for sure. They are constantly try to get you to upscale your ad with another upgrade. Maybe they are overwhelmed? Regardless look somewhere else . They are horrible!

There is something scratchy going on. I filled out online application, and few days afterwards I started getting text messages from people pretending to be a dealer and asked me to wire them money. So I called the dealer to verify that and appears that it was an imposter. It's impossible to reach anyone at *** to report that so they must be fine with this kind of atuff"

Hi there. Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for any confusion. While we do send out automated messages to encourage test drives and let buyers know if a seller has accepted their offer, these are meant to help streamline conversations. Additionally, CarGurus does send out notifications when a listing you have been communicating on has been removed or expired. Please be sure to check any spam or junk folders in case it ended up there. If you have additional questions, please reach out to user_support@cargurus.com

Excellent car listing platform
Excellent car listing platform...BUT their business model is extremely unethical. They raised our prices by 1000% within 3 years of signing up with them. We started out with $300 per month membership. 3.5 years later we were paying $1400 a month. Then all of a sudden our membership was terminated without a notice. When we called they said we are getting too many leads and now they have to raise the monthly membership to $3400. ***, nothing changed. *** size inventory listed but because we price our cars lower and get more attention they want us to pay more. *** is not giving us anything more for the extra pay. They simply want more. Getting more leads than other small car lots is purely our own efforts. Why do we have to pay more to be able to work for less by pricing our cars cheaper than most? How does that even make sense? I have talked to *** rep multiple times about this. It all comes down to "We raise our prices because we can." I understand if your product is in demand then you sell it higher to make more money. However price increase of 1000% over 3.5 years should be illegal. This is kind of a third world dictatorship. PS. How is *** accredited having 1.67 stars out of 5? Is *** even real?

If I could give them **** stars I would
If I could give them *** stars I would. Based on 2 experiences, the cars posted on this site are not real available, the dealers use these cars to bring you in, and after you waste your time coming in, they show only outrageously expensive similar cars, which were not listed.Car *** makes it impossible for victims to poste their experiences and rate the dealerships so consumers cannot even have an idea of what to expect. Also, the dealers will keep asking you how much you can pay per month without ever actually telling you the price of the car. After insisting on knowing how much for the car, and agreeing to apply for financing through them, I had a lot of denials and 1 approval (I have an above 700 credit) when I requested the credit applications from the banks, it turns out they requested more than $20,000 above the actual price of the car as financing, and kept lowering the dollar amount above the actual car price, until they get an approval. In my case, the approval was $7,500 above the car price. For example, I was buying a car for $32k, wanted to put $5k down, the credit approval was for $45 K? (It's like giving them $50 for a $32K purchase. When I asked them why would I do that, they said the additional money would cover the loan fee. My issue with car guru is that I couldn't even find a way to warn people on their site, it's impossible to find somebody to complaint to and or to rate the bad dealerships. In fact, when I tried my email they keep telling me you have to wait, and when I enter my cell number they tell me I have already review, which is not the case."

Private sellers, STAY AWAY !
Private sellers, STAY AWAY ! I wish I checked more before paying them to list. 1. They are completely biased towards Dealers. They may be a wholly owned subsidiary of used car dealers. 2. I have seen cars for sale by dealers in terrible condition, clearly visible in photos - even after the professional scrubbing and chemicals used car dealers use - imagine how they look in reality !, rated as "Good Value". I found one in particular, horrendous condition for a 3-4 year old car, from New Jersey no less (!), NO Packages , NO Options listed, a couple of months older than my car, slightly higher mileage, slightly higher asking price and stamped as a "Good Value" by Cargurus. My car is literally in like new condition loaded with literally every single Factory available Package and Option + Dealer installed genuine *** Options and accessories, including very expensive ones like Parking Sensors, *** Mobile Starter, ***/*** Auto, etc, etc. - and Carguru rated my car TWO levels under the piece of junk I despcribed above (and others, I used this one for comparison) "Overpriced", their bottom ranking ! Not only that, but at the time (possibly even now, not checking anymore) mine was listed last and the ONLY Overpriced car in my model's category ! Of course, my car was the ONLY one listed for sale by Private Seller - apparently other private sellers have done their homework better than I did. If you are shopping for a preowned car, last place you want to look is Carguru ! If buying based on their/Carguru's recommendation Value Label you'll in fact most likely end up buying an overpriced, basic (no options) piece of junk. Be very careful or better yet, look elsewhere. Do your homework beforehand - I didn;t and I paid ! 3. @Complaintsboard.com - why did you raise Carguru's rating from C- (and possibly lower) in the past to A+ currently ? Based on what? Even the consumer reviews on your very own website are bad and so are elsewhere - just *** them! Someone from Complaintsboard.com respond because I used to trust (at least somewhat) your ratings in the past. THank you in advance.
